Doin' it all for the Nookie.

I figured there might be one or two of you out there with Nooks, so I put The Snitch, Houdini and Me up on the Barnes & Noble e-book site for your downloading pleasure. (If you're in the market for one, you might want to see if there are Barnes & Noble coupons you can use to get a deal.)

I haven't tested it on a real live Nook yet, so if anything looks off, please let me know. Thanks!

    Ooohhh!!! More nookie please!

Actually, on second thought, I think I would prefer to not have a book in my nook, thank you...

  5. I have a Sony Reader... I looked for the book and it's not in the "store" if it were I'd get it. Can you somehow hook me up with some nookie?

I also have a Sony Reader. Would love to be able to get the book as an ePUB. I am a big Google eBookstore buyer so if you put it up there I'd be a happy camper. If not, I'll buy paper edition from Amazon.

  8. Kristina, good plan.

    Mary, Anon, thank YOU.

Kellina, what the hell is a kobo? Sounds like some kind of extinct prehistoric bird.

BW, Missy, I'll see what I can do...what "store" does that thing use? I though Nook format was EPUB.

Shieldmaiden, thanks, let me know what you think!

  9. JV: A Kobe is an Asian instrument used to invoke the indestructibility, imagination, fearlessness, and shear joy of the male child pulling another one out of the hat. I have enjoyed every word and as the mother of 3 boys similarly spaced apart as you all were I appreciate it from all angles. What a joy to read. Those of us who are looking waaaay back on those years as a parent see it all clearly now and can even remember our own forts, pranks and "wouldn't be cool to .....? and get younger sibling to participate? A terrific read for all. If I commented before just take each at face value - I have so enjoyed myself. My boys are old enough to trip on the look back in time. Thank you for putting forth the effort. I know it isn't easy but much appreciated by the lazy at heart. I have the good smelling paper - nothing quite like it. keep um coming. love

Thanks for thinking of us Nook owners - everyone seems to think we all have Kindles when the smart ones know the Nook is much better. :-)

Just downloaded your book, and I can't wait to read it.

  11. lorabele, please let me know if it works. For some reason, it seems to hate my nook. It says it downloaded, it won't let me buy it again, and yet it's not showing in my library.

  12. I'm not sure how popular the Sony Reader is but the link to the store is: http://ebookstore.sony.com/

If you can get it on there it would be awesome... if not, I'll have to go all old school and get a hard copy.

...or if there is another way to put it on my Sony, that'd work. No matter what, I want to buy a copy.

btw, missyogi, you can buy books from other places and load it on the Sony??!!

The Nook server took about 18 hours to download it and get it set up. Apparently there was a "server" problem. I am not sure what that means.
The servat didn't open the door fast enough for the boss to get to work?
    Didn't tie the boss's shoes?

Why say server problem if you really mean servant problem?

Oh wait- maybe this is a tennis thing- Maybe the server threw a John McEnroe and the person sending the elves out with the book waited to finish the game.

Maybe its just some goofy IT convention. The IT people don't want us to think that they make real money and play tennis and have servants- it completely changes the stereotype.

    - In all seriousness, the book dowloaded and I started it last night- so I can read it on the Nook (at least the first few pages). I'm pretty sure that I'll need to get my brother a copy too.

So the Nook can read EPUB, which are more transferable- but the Nookbooks have some DRM that doesn't allow them to transfer easily to other readers. The Google ebookstore and Borders sell the books as Epubs (I think) and Sony and Nook readers can both access them. Additionally, the Epub format is what libraries can distribute- so Nook and Sony ereader people can borrow ebooks that their libraries own. I picked a nook for that reason.

  14. Anon2, I am having spectacularly bad luck with SmashWords. Their ridiculous requirement for a word doc upload is killing me. It makes the epub files look like shit. I get much better results converting my html to epub via Calibre. Maybe I should sell the epub file direct.

Well, I thought, surely I could type "what readers are compatible with nookbooks" into Google and get a answer. There I go thinking again. lol.

I know I can get "straight un-laced" ePUBs at Google's eBookstore, eBooks.com, Borders and, of course, the Reader Store for my Sony Daily Edition Reader.

I can't get a straight answer off the web or B&N's web site about the compatibility of nookbooks. I will try downloading one of their free nookbooks and see if it works.

Only had time to read the introduction so far (funny!) but it worked great on my nook! Looking forward to the rest.

  17. I don't have a Kindle as an appliance but Amazon has a PC version, so I've been using that to read your book. Funniest thing I've read in ages.

  18. I bought your book for my new Nook. I read it before going to sleep. I've been laughing out loud and waking up my husband.
