It's Wednesday the 17th from 7-8pm, at The Book House, the last cool independent bookstore in our area.
I'm up first, and I'll probably read one or two stories, possibly with a short intermission for the EMTs to resuscitate me, then he'll finish up the evening. He's going to read some excerpts from his book "Worlds Without End" which I honestly know nothing about since he hasn't given me a copy yet. (I better get one Wednesday is all I'm saying, Feulner.)
To be fair, I don't think he's read my book yet either, so this gig has the potential to be sort of like Jimmy Buffett opening for SlipKnot.
So if you're in the area and bored, stop by and say hi. It's a pretty cool place.
So which stories are you going to read? You ought to include the "Finger Saga" as a bonus.
ReplyDeleteI really haven't decided yet. I've been timing out a few and was thinking that The catskill game farm story and then maybe Bending 101 and if I have time, the blue jay story. Those two are relatively free of profanity, if I can remember to say "crap" instead of "shit".
ReplyDeleteI agree with Chris. Also, bring the fingernail...
ReplyDeleteIts too far of a drive for me, but good luck anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am also near the Canada - US border, I am on the other side of the country, so I will be unable to attend your reading - I am soooo disappointed! :(
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for your reading. Is it appropriate to say, "Break a leg!"? Or would, "Loose a finger-nail!" be better?
Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIs the game farm the one with the spitting llama? Because that visual really needs to be incorporated somehow...
It's really funny you posted this, because literally just yesterday I heard a little blurb for the the Public Radio program, I think called "The Moth" (?), where they feature live storytelling. It's distributed by PRX, the Public Radio Exchange. I had just read the finger post after a long hiatus from your blog, and thought, "Wow, Johnny Virgil would be great for this show."
That's assuming you can stay conscious. So hope that goes well.
You'll do great!
Steve
Wish I could be there, JV! I'll be supporting you in spirit though. Good Luck! (My First Suit puts me in hysterics every time! Stench, Flies and Animal Crackers and Dog Days of Summer get me rolling too. You have a lot of great stuff to chose from!)
ReplyDeleteYou'd better not wimp out on the signing because of your boo boo. And you remembering to say "crap" - good luck with that, too!
ReplyDeleteWish I could be there but have to work- you should check out The River's End Bookstore in Oswego, NY. Not too far away, fun college town, great independent bookstore, and I could go to hear you read!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Good luck and don't pass out!
ReplyDeleteGetting nervous? Less than 48 hours....
ReplyDeleteI won't get nervous until I start reading....
ReplyDeletejust finished your book this evening. loved it, laughed out loud a lot. then posted a link and my 5 star review on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteyou are now on my list of favorite blogs to read
ReplyDeleteCool, glad you liked it. If you can post a quick review on amazon, I'd really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteAre you still alive? Was it as difficult as you thought it would be? At the least did they have a couple of pretty paramedics to resuscitate you? Do tell us left coasters all about it. Luv ya. lorraine.
ReplyDeleteHope you're still alive and I'm sure it went amazingly well.
ReplyDeleteWhen I left the store last night, Johnny was still breathing, folks. Considering that he hasn't responded yet leads me to believe he went to celebrate and possibly fell into another basement in a new construction site...I hope not. Seriously, Johnny did GREAT! I've got a book to give to the Slug's family. I can't wait to hear how they like it.
ReplyDeleteWell done Johnny...I enjoyed the evening immensely...Always a treat to see you and Mrs. V...
