I ain't dead (yet.)

Wow.  I really need to crack a window in this place and let in some fresh air. I've been gone so long there's an inch of dust on everything.  I've actually been getting email asking if I'm OK.  So the answer to that question is yes, I'm fine.  Thanks for asking, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  So what have I been doing?

Just got back from a trip to Ogunquit, Maine with some friends, and I am currently working on a few posts that I hope to have up shortly.  No promises though. September is my vacation month, and I have to finish these damned chairs before they finish me.

    I probably have you beat, given that I went the entire month of August without posting on my own blog. Nobody has asked me if I'm okay, so take that as a mark of your popularity! :-)

      Yeah, the shavehorse makes life much, much easier when you're whittling back spindles. It's kind of a pita to store the thing though. I should have made it so I could break it down.

      It's a spokeshave. kind of a two-handed plane you can either push away from you or pull toward you. The tool in the middle is called a travisher, and it's specifically for hollowing out chair seats.

      It wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. The beach wasn't overly crowded, and there wasn't ever a wait at the restaurants.
